It's barely August, but, sure, we're already talking about Oscars. ”

Oscar Predictions, Already!

Spoilers!

It feels like we’ve barely gotten over joking about the La La Land mixup at last year’s ceremony, and we’re already handicapping next year’s race, even though there’s still five months left in the year. Apparently not too early for sites like GoldDerby to make their early predictions. Of course, Dunkirk is already talked about as a multi-nomination lock and there’s some speculation that Warner Bros. may mount an earnest campaign behind Wonder Woman. Meanwhile, the sensual trailer for Sundance hit Call Me By Your Name, already one of the most buzzed about contenders, debuted on Tuesday (watch it here). That was just a day after the trailer for another possible contender, mother!, also debuted. All this sudden Oscars chatter may seem, well, premature, but, folks, may we remind you, we’re about to hit the notoriously slowest time for cinema lovers of late August and September. It’s not like there’s much else for film nerds to talk about right now.

Dating Men

Men of a certain character have long considered dating a supermodel the holy grail, and, increasingly, those supermodels agree with them. Indeed, supermodels are increasingly dating supermodels now, too. Their supermodel selves to be exact. Earlier this summer, Victoria’s Secret legend Adriana Lima announced that despite her rumored relationship drama with men she was actually, at the moment anyway, married to herself. Bella Hadid meanwhile has been caught hanging out with her platonic male friends recently only for the gossips to jump to the conclusion that she has a new beau. Well, the 20-year-old model took to Twitter to clear things up and to announce that she’s "in a committed relationship with myself and my happiness for now." Technically it’s three that makes a trend, but this is high fashion and, hence, always a bit ahead of the trends. Expect several H&M and Zara models to announce that they too are dating themselves in about six to ten weeks.

In somewhat related news, if you do happen to be a supermodel who marries yourself, Naomi Campbell will probably show up to your wedding with three gowns as she did at a friend's wedding this weekend

Kevin James’ Other TV Wife

Do you want to talk about CBS sitcoms and crime procedurals? We no, sorry, but the network’s primetime offerings are making quite the headlines at the moment. First the network is attempting to give an extra jolt to Kevin James’ latest sitcom, Kevin Can Wait, by bringing in Leah Remini, the actress who played his wife on their other CBS sitcom The King of Queens. Except, problem is, Erinn Hayes was already playing James's wife. So they’ll just kill her character, and jump the series ahead in time to pretend like it basically never happened. In their defense, who (aside from the Church of Scientology) doesn’t like Leah Remini? Meanwhile, the network promises that its Big Bang Theory spinoff Young Sheldon (starring Big Little Lies’ Ian Armitage aka “Ziggy”) won’t be so much a by-the-numbers sitcom like its parent show, but rather like a modern day Wonder Years. Somehow we almost see it working. Armitage stole half the scenes he was in on Big Little Lies. Finally, the network is attempting to explain away the fact that two of television’s most high-profile Asian American actors-Daniel Dae-Kim and Grace Park of Hawaii Five-O-left when the network refused to pay them as much as their white counterparts, which, as The Daily Beast points out, led to a very tense press conference at a Television Critics Association event.
