No one enjoyed the eclipse more than Sarah Jessica Parker.

Patiently Awaiting the Next Eclipse in 2024

Cereal Boxes

How did you experience the solar eclipse? Did you have a life changing experience like Sarah Jessica Parker (who thoroughly documented her experience on social media)? Did your briefly try to compete with it for national attention like Taylor Swift (who released a cryptic Instagram video of a snake to signal the imminent release of new music)? Did you, despite numerous warnings, stare directly at the sun like Donald Trump? Did you take advantage of it to strengthen your personal brand and create trending content like singer Bonnie Tyler (who performed her hit “Total Eclipse of the Heart” along with Joe Jonas-led band DNCE on a cruise ship and saw the song hit #1 for a time on iTunes)? Did you just forget to get eclipse glasses and then spent the rest of the day snickering at people in your office who were looking through cereal boxes affixed with tin foil? Whether you enjoyed it or not, you’ll have to wait until 2024 for the next total solar eclipse to hit America. That should be more than enough time to get those silly glasses.

Daenerys’s Nice Winter Coat

Logic

After the internet freaked out over a twist that involves zombie dragons on the latest episode of Game of Thrones, it settled down and realized, “Hey, that coat Daenerys wore last night was fly as hell.” Indeed, the white fur number was an eyecatcher, even as everyone was wondering where she got it (do they have overnight tailors in the show? What’s the Westeros equivalent of Zara?). Then again, the show is fantasy. Something you know because no actual person who has spent their entire life in the warm south has ever looked that good the first time they saw snow. In any event, find our favorite fashion picks from this season here , and catch a glimpse of next week’s season finale here.

Peak Drag Queen Television

Gender Norms

RuPaul’s Drag Race is nominated for seven Emmys, and finally the drag queen television floodgates have opened. The show recently moved to Vh1, and the basic cable channel has decided to go full in. In addition to another season, they’ve commissioned a third go-around of the All Stars spin-off. They’ve also announced that they’re bringing Untucked (the show’s dramatic companion series that basically consists of drag queens sitting backstage, drinking cocktails through straws and throwing shade at each other) is also coming to TV after spending the past few seasons as a YouTube series. It’s not just Vh1 getting into the action however. Former contestant Katya and Trixie Mattell have wowed YouTube viewers with their surrealist chat show UNHhhh for the past few years, and now they’re getting a show on Viceland. It’ll be a weekly chat program called, simply, The Trixie & Katya Show. Ru will serve as a producer. Though, in the latest issue of Vanity Fair, the queen of all queens says that while he’s enjoying drag’s moment in the spotlight, he says he remains humble by reminding himself it could all be gone in an instant. “It’s just like junior high school. When the popular kids like you...In, out, in, out,” RuPaul said. “It changes, so you can’t take it too seriously. You have to remember who you are.” As a newsletter that clearly knows how quickly things can go from “in” to “out,” we concur.
