The VMAs

Who won in the epic Sunday night television battle between the Game of Thrones finale and the VMAs? Well, let's just say the Westeros elite basically beheaded MTV’s flagship event program. Yes, GoT attracted 12.1 million viewers, a record for the series and three million more than last season’s final episode. That number jumped to 16.5 million when night-of streams were take into account, and will balloon to over 30 million by the time on demand, time shifted and future streaming is calculated. Meanwhile, the VMAs netted only around 6 million watchers. That’s down from last year, but don’t worry, VMAs still won the night among teen viewers-basically it delivered for the kinds of people who actually recognized half the “celebrities" present. The real winner of the night, though, was Taylor Swift. Her “Look What You Made Me Do” video shattered YouTube’s record for most views in a single 24 hour period, leaving previous record holder, Adele’s “Hello,” in the dust. Of course, we’re just still trying to figure out if all these apparent references to other iconic music videos in Swift’s latest were intentional or not.

Kim Kardashian’s Backup Plan

Anything But Cheese Pizza

Interview magazine thinks America is in need of a beloved first lady right now, so they dressed Kim Kardashian-West up as Jackie Kennedy and put her on their latest cover. She’s not alone though, as she’s joined by 3-year-old daughter North West (presumably playing the part of Caroline Kennedy?). Kardashian, however, says that if she had to chose an alternative career it wouldn’t be as a political wife. “If I wasn’t doing what I’m doing now, or if this doesn’t work out one day, I could so be a publicist,” she tells the publication. “I feel like that’s my job for the family sometimes, at least the crisis part of it.”  It’s cute that Kim actually thinks there’s a possibility she may actually have to consider a traditional 9-to-5 someday. Also, cute: the magazine conducted the first interview with little North via questions submitted from other famous children and children of celebrities. Kaia Gerber, the offspring of Cindy Crawford, queried North on her favorite pizza. “Just Cheese! Cheese, cheese—everywhere cheese,” she replied.

Spike TV, Apparently

Did you catch the trailers for the TV reboot of Heathers during the VMAs? Yes, the iconic ‘80s teen flick is being turned into revamped TV show, and this time around the titular Heathers aren’t all skinny, white girls. One is plus-sized, another is asian, and the third is a genderqueer character whose birth name is “Heath.” Veronica, the character played by Winona Ryder in the original, is still very Winona-esque though. The series is set to premiere on the Paramount Network next year (Haven’t heard of the Paramount Network? Oh. It’s also set to premiere next year as a reworking of the existing Spike channel). Speaking of intriguing upcoming TV programs, the book Champagne Supernovas, which functions as something of a triple biography of the lives of Kate Moss, Marc Jacobs and Alexander McQueen during the ‘90s, has just been optioned for a television series. That could make for interesting watching, but good luck finding an actress who makes for a convincing Kate Moss.

@lennon.gallagher

Son of Oasis’s Liam Gallagher, Lennon Gallagher is fashion’s latest scion obsession. Along with Adwoa Aboah and Pharrell Williams, he’s one of the new faces of G-Star Raw. Though, if his Instagram is any evidence, his true passion seem to be hanging out with his girlfriend and cigarettes.
