Taylor Swift Anticipation

The Media? Kim and Kanye? Katy Perry?

A new Taylor Swift era is nigh...whether you’re ready or not. After teasing fans with snake-themed Instagram videos earlier in the week, Swift announced a new album, dubbed Reputation, and gave warning that a new single (rumored to be called “Timeless”) will be released tonight. The black-and-white album cover featured a pensive Swift disintegrating into a whirlpool of newspaper clippings that all just repeat the words “Taylor Swift.” What exactly does this all mean for the next Swift phase? We have our own ideas. Of course, a lot of people think the album might have some sort of message criticizing the media (because Donald Trump hasn’t done that enough already). Others think the snake videos recall a certain narrative that Swift never asked to be included in. There’s also rumors Swift may perform or premiere a new video during the Katy Perry-hosted VMAs over the weekend, perhaps signaling some sort of truce. We’ll know in due time.

Modesty

We’re not even sure when or where exactly the next Victoria’s Secret fashion show is to take place, but the media spectacle around it has already begun. The brand is holding a casting call for models in New York City this week, and the paparazzi is eagerly awaiting outside to check out who is showing up, and more importantly what they’re wearing see for yourself here. Even the daughters of the rich and famous are showing up and hoping to get their wings. Haily Baldwin, who infamously (or at least semi-infamously) was denied last year, showed up to try and snag a spot in the show. As did Josie Canseco, the 21-year-old Instagram-famous daughter of controversial baseball star Jose Canseco (find out more than you need to know about her here). Of course, the brand’s official Angels (including Stella Maxwell and Behati Prinsloo) are all guaranteed a spot, while a handful of new and returning girls have already been confirmed. Now, as for details of where the show will go next? No one knows. There were rumors the show was set for Shanghai this year, but the brand hasn’t confirmed that whisper.

Us Plebes

There’s a lot to say about both Ivanka and Melania Trump, but at least neither have given into the sort of unhinged rants that the president has. They may not be exactly popular, but at least they haven’t positioned themselves as modern day Marie Antoinettes. Can’t say the same for Louise Linton, wife of Trump’s Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin. The unsuccessful actress who married Mnunchin earlier this year posted a picture of herself departing a private plane with her designer clothes tagged on Instagram, and when one commenter criticized her, Linton went in. "Pretty sure the amount we sacrifice per year is a lot more than you'd be willing to sacrifice if the choice was yours," she wrote among other elitist comments. She’s since apologized, but some designers that were tagged in her photo have distanced themselves. Reps for both Valentino and Tom Ford said that they had not gifted Linton the items she promoted in the original post.

Sofia Richie, daughter of Lionel, sister of Nicole, and “close friend” of Justin Bieber is already a media-obsession. Now she’s finally an adult. She turns 18 today. Happy birthday.
