Minions

The best movies this weekend were already released earlier this week. Edgar Wright’s stylized crime drama Baby Driver, a film that will against all odds will leave you charmed by lead actor Ansel Elgort, is already doing brisk business at the box office since debuting on Wednesday and critics are on its side. The film has a 97 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Meanwhile, Netflix’s Cannes Film Festival entry Okja (the one with Tilda Swinton and the giant mutant pig) is likewise already streaming on the service and also charming critics. This weekend’s other films? Despicable Me 3 is out to please whichever relative you have that can’t get enough of those minions. The Amy Poehler and Will Ferrell-starring The House is also out, but was not screened for critics (which is never a good sign).

Kendall and Kylie

On Wednesday, Kendall and Kylie Jenner unveiled a new line of “vintage” tees, by which they meant “vintage”-seeming concert tees featuring some of the biggest rock and hip hop stars with the addition of the sister’s screenpinted images over them for reasons not entirely clear. The internet did not react kindly, and even relatives of some of the musicians got involved. Voletta Wallace, mother of the late Notorious B.I.G., took to Instagram to write, “the disrespect of these girls to not even reach out to me or anyone connected to the estate baffles me. I have no idea why they feel they can exploit the deaths of 2pac and my Son Christopher to sell a t-shirt. This is disrespectful, disgusting, and exploitation at its worst!!!” Sharon Osbourne, wife of Ozzy, also chimed in, “Girls, you haven’t earned the right to put your face with musical icons. Stick to what you know…lip gloss.” By the end of Thursday, Kendall Jenner posted an apology on Twitter noting, “These designs were not well thought out and we deeply apologize.” Obviously, the shirts will not go on sale.

Models' Sexual Fluidity

Rigid Labels

Cara Delevingne isn’t straight. She also isn’t gay. She’d appreciate it if you stopped calling her both. The model-turned-actress was interviewed by one of her BFFs, fellow Brit model Adwoa Aboah, for the latest issue of Glamour and wanted to clear up any lingering questions about her sexuality. “A lot of the friends I have who are straight have such an old way of thinking. It’s ‘So you’re just gay, right?’ [They] don’t understand it. [If] I’m like, ‘Oh, I really like this guy,’ [they’re like], ‘But you’re gay.’ I’m like, ‘No, you’re so annoying!’” she said. Aboah also added that she thinks model sexual fluidity seems to be quite the thing at the moment, “During Fashion Week many young women [were] in same-sex relationships. They would be like, ‘I’m surrounded by the most beautiful women.’”
