The Emmys lavishes praise on Westworld and Saturday Night Live, and has nothing leftover for the leftovers. ”

The Leftovers

Television’s reigning champ Game of Thrones may have sat out the season, but the Emmy Awards' nominations were no less compelling. The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences instead threw its weight behind HBO’s other big budget fantasy series Westworld with 22 nominations. It ties for most nominations with Saturday Night Live, with the 42-year-old show coming off a season headlined by Alec Baldwin’s Donald Trump but also containing smaller pleasures like character David S. Pumpkins and video short "Wells For Boys." Though, there was still some surprising snubs. The Leftovers joins The Wire as an HBO standout to never get a nomination in a major category. Voters prefered Noah Hawley’s Fargo to his other show Legion, and, for the first time in its history, American Horror Story received no nominations. Feud: Bette vs Joan, did the heavy lifting for Ryan Murphy’s TV empire this year. Find more of our surprises and snubs here.

Not Dating Your Single Costar

Kirsten Dunst may be right when she claims that everyone thinks her and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man movies were the best in general, but that version of the franchise certainly wasn’t the best for celebrity tabloids. Dunst and Maguire never dated (incidentally Maguire beat out Jake Gyllenhall for the role, who Dunst did go on to date). If the Andrew Garfield-era of Spider-Man gave us anything, it was at least his brief power coupledom with Emma Stone. Now comes news that the latest Spider-Man, Tom Holland is reportedly dating his co-star Zendaya. “They started seeing each other while they were filming Spider-Man,” a source tells People. “They’ve been super careful to keep it private and out of the public eye but they’ve gone on vacations with each other and try and spend as much time as possible with one another.” And why not? They’re both cute, young kids on the verge of superstardom. Why wouldn’t they date each other? Of course, the two went on to jokingly deny the rumors (and the idea that they've even had time for vacations recently) on Twitter, but the 'bloids are maintaining that the pair is actually seeing each other.

Tik Tok Music

Kesha continues her return with her second single in as many weeks. Her latest, “Woman,” finds her collaborating with the The Dap-Kings Horns, and proudly declaring “I’m a motherf---ing woman, baby alright! I don’t need a man to be holding me too tight.” It’s a perfect "girls night out" party song follow-up to her soul baring return, “Praying.” “Woman” may not directly reference her former abuser Dr. Luke, like the first single did, but it continues to show Kesha making her own distinct path and completely rejecting her previously Luke-produced style. Gone is the sugary sweet synthetics and overly-engineered hooks. Instead it’s real music played with real instruments and meant for people with real attention spans, and, most importantly, sung by someone with a real voice. If you were dying over Kesha’s whistle register in “Praying,” don’t worry, it returns in all of its glory here.
