The Golden Globes, Hollywood’s biggest party. Among its most important awards show, the nominations were unveiled early Monday and a lot of it was to be expected. They loved Oscar frontrunners like The Post, Call Me by Your Name, and The Shape of Water. Big Little Lies, meanwhile, dominated the TV side of things. Yet, dig a little deeper and there were certainly some snubs and surprises. Veep, the comedy awards behemoth that it is, was completely unrecognized in the year of Trump. Helen Mirren took home a nomination for a film that not only few have seen, but many were surprised to learn even existed. Most concerningly, while both Get Out and Lady Bird were nominated in several categories, neither director, Jordan Peele nor Greta Gerwig, were recognized in the best director category. Needing Number One Songs Anyway

No matter what you think about Ed Sheeran, at least he used the powers of his continued super-popularity to help get Beyoncé back to the top of the singles’ chart. Yes, Queen Bey has not reached the apex of Billboard Hot 100 since 2008 when “Single Ladies” climbed to the peak. Now, she’s back atop the charts with Sheeran’s help. Their duet remix of Sheeran’s song “Perfect” hit the top spot Monday. While some may take the opportunity to shade Beyoncé, let’s remember that ever since “Single Ladies,” she’s been busy trying to save the art form of the album by reinventing in. Let us also remember some of the acts that have held the top spot between 2008 and now: Owl City, Jay Sean, Taio Cruz, Far East Movement, LMFAO, Gotye, Magic!, Omi, whoever it is that made “Harlem Shake.” Clearly, a number one song is not the best indicator of overall industry health or a long-lasting musical career. Still, she is Beyoncé, and she deserves at least one number one every decade.

“Royal Boob” on The Crown

Even if you haven’t finished season two of The Crown just yet, we feel we can inform you of the two following bits of information without really spoiling it: 1) Everyone loves it 2) There is no royal nudity. Yes, producers briefly mulled over the concept of flashing some Windsor skin this season during a love scene between Vanessa Kirby’s Princess Margaret and her latest fling. “We had a big debate on whether to show royal boob or not,” she said during a recent press event. “We decided they don't want to see royal boob, thank God.” Prohibitions against wanton royal nudity seems like a classy decision for Netflix’s classiest show. Though, it’s not like The Crown is totally straight-laced: They did have a brief moment of Prince Philip’s nude silhouette last season.
