In: Harry Styles | Out: Coachella Instagrams

Harry Styles might have been the only Millennial celebrity not at Coachella this weekend.

Coachella FOMO

The first weekend of Coachella, the annual gathering of Instagram power-users with a music festival component, is in the books. Lady Gaga debuted a new song, Rihanna had the best outfit, Vanessa Hudgens definitely has an outfit, most regular attendees stuck with tried and true festival style of crop tops and florals (truly as groundbreaking as florals for, well, you know). Most stuck to the actual festival, while the rest enjoyed fancy celebrity-laden sponsored parties. It was pretty much your standard Coachella in every single way (without a surprise Kate Bush performance, we might add) to shake things up. Though, Lauryn Hill did make a surprise appearance.  With the Live Streams, celebrity snaps and Instagrams upon Instagrams in our feeds documenting it, it almost felt like we were there.

The Slow Lane

Moviegoers like the cars, the cars that go vroom! The Fate of the Furious, the eighth installment of the world’s favorite street-racing franchise, set a worldwide box office record over the weekend. It’s massive $532.5 take is the biggest global haul in movie history, even outshining Star Wars: The Force Awakens (granted, the record book isn’t adjusted for inflation). Assuredly this means we’ll get a half dozen more of these flicks including Fast 13 Furiously Going On 30 and My Super Fast 16. Of course, this means for the first time in three weeks, The Boss Baby is not the No. 1 movie in America, which is of some relief.

Justin Timberlake

Are you a boy-bander hoping to break out with a serious solo career and (hopefully) a burgeoning movie career on the side? Well, don’t worry, Jimmy Fallon is here to help you. While Fallon may have been the host of this weekend’s Saturday Night Live, he let Harry Styles (fresh off debuting his Millennial pink-hued album cover earlier in the week) more than shine. The former One Directioner appeared in two sketches (including as a heavily animated young Mick Jagger, and also managed to play lead single “Sign of the Times” and new cut “Ever Since New York.” It was just the beginning of the album push and what we imagine will be a very Styles-heavy summer. That self-titled album drops May 12th. He also has a role in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming war epic Dunkirk, which premieres in July. We’d feel sorry for Justin Timberlake that Fallon found a new boyband BFF, but, hey, Timberlake still has Andy Samberg.

Rihanna
@Rihanna

Sure, there’s a whole other weekend of Coachella festival style to come, but, look, this is the only important look. Because of course Rihanna rocked the most talked about look straight from the latest Gucci runway.
