The English designer was named the French couture house’s newest Artistic Director yesterday just a few weeks after her final show at Chloé and about a month after Riccardo Tisci vacated the job. The announcement was of some surprise considering word in the front row was that she was sick of commuting to Paris from her home in London, but when couture comes calling you don’t say no. In addition to Tisci and Mr. Givenchy himself, Keller enters a job once held by both Alexander McQueen and John Galliano. Notably, she’s the first woman to hold the job. She is also the latest proof that Chloé has a knack for incubating talent; previous tenants of her former office included Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney and Phoebe Philo. Natacha Ramsay-Levi, former right hand woman of Louis Vuitton designer Nicolas Ghesquière, had already been tapped to replace her at Chloé. | | | | Calling Your Congressperson | Federal Funding for the Arts, Possibly | Donald Trump proved long-simmering rumors to be true when he presented his first budget proposal yesterday that included a recommendation to completely shutter the National Endowment for the Arts, despite its already miniscule budget. Likewise, Trump also wants the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and other federal cultural agencies defunded as well. Though, the President himself doesn’t actually write the budget, and the agencies could still live to see the light of day if enough Republicans in the House and Senate are convinced that they should be saved. Of course, the #SaveTheNEA hashtag is already making the rounds, as is a petition that already has over 230,000 signatures. And perhaps most importantly, there is a form that allows citizens to send an automated letter in support of the NEA to their Senators and congresspeople. | Another Ryan Murphy TV Series, Somehow | Anthology Series, For a Moment | Mega-producer Ryan Murphy is currently killing it (sometimes literally) with his slate of addictive and must-watch anthology series. On FX alone there’s Feud, American Horror Story and American Crime Story. It may be easy to forget his Fox series Scream Queens, but for this tally at least, it shouldn’t be. And somehow he’s found time to develop yet another show, and it seems to mark the Glee creator’s return to non-anthology series. It’s called Pose, and its plot is a hodgepodge of signifiers from 1980’s New York. According to The Hollywood Reporter those include “the rise of the luxury Trump-era universe, the downtown social and literary scene and the ball cultural world.” So, uh, basically a mix of Donald Trump, Jay McInerney and vogueing drag queens? Uh, sure, why not? The show, which will feature a largely unknown cast, will start filming in October and premiere on FX sometime next year. | | | | | | | | | | | Selena Gomez may be the single most followed person on Instagram, but she hates the social network. “It had become so consuming to me,” she told Vogue in her new cover story. “It’s what I woke up to and went to sleep to. I was an addict, and it felt like I was seeing things I didn’t want to see, like it was putting things in my head that I didn’t want to care about. I always end up feeling like shit when I look at Instagram. Which is why I’m kind of under the radar, ghosting it a bit.” Of course, that didn’t stop her from posting photos from the accompanying photoshoot to the app. | | | | | | | | Rob Kardashian, 30 (Reality TV Sibling) Tamar Braxton, 40 (Reality TV Sibling) Rob Lowe, 53 (Star of About 40 TV Shows at This Point) Grimes, 29 (Our Little Art Angel) John Boyega, 25 (Possible Jedi) | | | | | | | |
