Walk faster, fuel smarter and make a few small changes that could pay off big.
Every September, I get the same urge: buy a fresh notebook, clean out a closet, start walking earlier, maybe become a person who remembers to meal-prep. Apparently I’m not alone. The “September Reset” is having a moment, and behavioral scientists have a name for why it feels so convincing — the fresh start effect. New months, seasons, birthdays and school years can make change feel more possible.
At this stage of life, I’m not interested in becoming a “new me.” I just want to be a better, stronger, happier version of the woman I already am.
So this September, I’m not starting over. I’m recalibrating.
Maybe that means getting back to strength training, putting my phone down earlier, making the appointment I’ve been postponing — or simply saying no to something I don’t have room for anymore.
A reset doesn’t have to be dramatic to matter — and this week’s stories are a good reminder of just how much small shifts can add up. Maybe it’s picking up your walking pace to support healthy aging, fueling your workouts a little differently or adding more magnesium-rich foods to your plate — we’ve written about a ton of easy, yet effective, ways you can start the new season off right.
Consider this issue your September reset: a collection of ideas, information and inspiration to help you make a few changes that feel right for you — and feel a little better along the way. anyway.
