When the original Blade Runner was released in 1982, it didn’t exactly set the box office on fire, but in the years since it’s become a must-watch part of the cannon. Expectations for this weekend’s sequel, Blade Runner 2049, are high. The film has ratcheted up near-universal praise from critics and is expected to be an easy number one at the box office. In very limited release, there’s also The Florida Project, a film hotly tipped for an awards season run, and with a very, very cute 7-year-old as its star. Feeling more into documentaries? Women Coming Forward

As actress Amber Tamblyn reminded everyone on Twitter, “Women have nothing to gain and everything to lose” when coming forward with accusations of sexual misconduct. Though, rumors swirled for years about Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein, no one came forward until Thursday when The New York Times published a blockbuster report in which multiple women, including the actress Ashley Judd, recounted instances of Weinstein’s sexual harassment and shockingly inappropriate behavior. The article also confirmed that Weinstein reached a settlement with Rose McGowan, who has been outspoken about issues of sexual abuse in Hollywood in recent years, after a 1997 incident in a hotel room. Weinstein has stepped down from his company and admitted that he needs to work on himself (all while quoting fake Jay-Z lyrics), but, conversely, he’s also hired the same lawyer who brought down Gawker to reportedly sue the Times for $50 million.

Being Hopelessly Single

Jake Gyllenhaal is a world-famous, movie-star hunk, but lately he’s been acting like, well, all your single friends in their 30s. In a recent Elle interview, he begged the world for blind dates. “People should set me up more often,” he said. “I absolutely encourage it. There should be more of that in my life.” In an interview with People, he noted how his sister Maggie’s two children make him hope he has kids of his own one day. In fact, he has a recent history of dropping the fact he hopes to be a father into interviews. Maybe Raf Simons heard him, because the Calvin Klein creative director cast Gyllenhaal as the latest face of CK fragrance Eternity. Gyllenhaal poses with supermodel Liya Kebede and a 4-year-old actress in a family-type setup. It’s cute. Now, because, you’re wondering, Gyllenhaal hasn’t been seen out publicly with anyone special since late 2014. Here’s hoping he gets set up on some real blind dates soon.
