Cara Delevingne has more jobs than most, while Kendall Jenner was forced to give up one of hers.

New Movies

Hopefully you’ve made vacation plans, are concerning yourself with hunting for sales, or maybe you’re just a really big college football fan, because otherwise this weekend’s new entertainment options are ...let's say curious. The widest release movie is Tulip Fever, a period-piece thriller set in Amsterdam starring Alicia Vikander, Dane DeHaan, Cara Delevingne, Christopher Waltz (among many other notables). Despite a solid pedigree, the film has been pushed around on the release schedule until it wound up here and the studio has enforced a strange embargo on critical reviews until 1 p.m. today. Though, to drum up excitement they have released a very graphic trailer. It’s all very curious indeed. Other than that, well Netflix has the third season of Narcos to binge.

It’s a different story for music, though. LCD Soundsystem comes back from its controversial “retirement” with American Dream, and early reviews indicate it’s another classic that’s worth forgiving the band over. Elsewhere, ‘80s synth band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark makes the case for their continued existence with The Punishment of Luxury; twee band The Pains of Being Pure At Heart release a similarly wonderfully named The Echo of Pleasure; and neo-disco crew Hercules and Love Affair returns with Omnion, which may provide the perfect soundtrack to your last sweaty summer dance party.

Cara’s Other Careers, For a Moment

It’s a busy year for Cara Delevingne. She released her first song. She’s set to release her first novel. She’s starred in a few movies. She became a cartoon character. She’s even found time to even do some modeling. Now, she’s giving TV a try. She’ll star opposite Orlando Bloom in Amazon’s Carnival Row, an eight-episode series that’s literally about a fairy refugee crisis (Delevingne, predictably, will play a fairy). At only 25, Delevingne has done a lot, but there’s always more careers to aspire to. We eagerly anticipate her eventual attempts at things like stand-up comedy and professional wrestling. Why not?

Victoria’s Secret

Though it’s still months away, buzz around the Victoria’s Secret fashion show is in full bloom thanks to casting announcements. The Hadids, Gigi and Bella, will both be back, and Karlie Kloss is returning for the first time in two years. Of course, all of the brand’s current contract Angels (Adriana Lima, Stella Maxwell, Lily Aldridge et al) will be there for the show in Shanghai. One notable missing veteran? Kendall Jenner. The famous face has other lingerie duties at the moment, as she’s the face of high-end brand La Perla, and thus, according to rumors at least, contractually precluded from walking the show. The irony of all this is that Kendall’s sister Kylie recently admitted that the two occasionally share underwear. You’d think with all those lingerie campaigns there’d be no need to.

Of course, Kendall’s absence leaves even more room for first time models like Roosmarijn de Kok. The Dutch beauty is set to maker her debut in Shanghai.
