A New E-mail Address Every Week

Us regular folks probably have two, maybe three e-mail accounts: a personal one, a work one, and that random extra one you wind up needing for a variety of weird reasons (like signing up for a second free Netflix trial period or such). Beyoncé, though, isn’t like the rest of us; the singer has countless e-mail addresses. In fact, she gets a new one every week. That’s according to Ed Sheeran, at least. He says while the pair was preparing their collaboration on a remix of his single “Perfect,” he had to e-mail a new address every week. It seemed to surprise even him, and this is a man who we presume has also e-mailed with Taylor Swift. Beyonce’s method is certainly one way to cut down on inbox clutter, but it seems like the system could lead to other headaches. It certainly must be a pain for Beyoncé’s assistant to have to sign her up for In & Out each and every week.

Bryan Singer

Wanted: Director with speciality in rescuing doomed projects and a keen interest in the musical stylings of British rock band Queen. Yes, 20th Century Fox has officially fired Bryan Singer from the upcoming Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody following reports that he just never came back to set after Thanksgiving. The Hollywood Reporter claims that tensions flared up between Singer and star Rami Malek on set due to Singer’s "unprofessional" behavior and "unreliability," and at one point, a heated argument culminated with Singer hurling an object. Costar Tom Hollander also briefly quit the project because of the chaos. One source, however, claims that Singer is now suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder over the on-set havoc. Fox and Singer have a long history. Singer, after all, has produced most of and directed many of the studio’s main X-Men films, an important source of revenue for Fox, so a rift is even more surprising. The studio is now said to be evaluating all options of how to continue production.

Sexual Predators in High Culture

Efforts to purge sexual predators and harassers has spread to high culture. A New York City opera house, ballet company, and museum were rocked by allegations laid against powerful men in their ranks over the past few days. New York’s famed Metropolitan Opera announced it has suspended longtime conductor James Levine on Sunday after allegations that a man had gone to Illinois police to report that he had been molested by the conductor beginning when he was 15. Levine had been the driving artistic force at the Met for decades, but had stepped back to the position of music director emeritus in 2016. A day later, the New York City Ballet announced they had removed their master-in-chief Peter Martins, a famed ballet dancer in his days, from his teaching duties while they investigate claims of sexual harassment. Likewise, The Jewish Museum has cut ties with curator Jens Hoffman after several staff members came forward with allegations of sexual harassment that dated back to his time as the museum’s deputy director.
