Fashion Month, Finally

Fashion month ended in Paris on Tuesday with the international fashion set breathing a sigh of relief, shoving stilettos into suitcases, and heading, finally, back home. Officially, however, it ended with a day of superstar shows. Chanel kicked things off by building an entire mountainside, complete with waterfalls, indoors for its models to walk past. The collection, of course, was very Chanel, though with some rainwear accoutrements in the form of clear vinyl bucket hats, ponchos, and boots. Find exclusive pics here. Thom Browne went full-scale surreal and ended his show with two people dressed as a unicorn. Miu Miu went fun, flirty, and floral, while Louis Vuitton went for an eclectic mix of future meets past and formal meets casual. Think embroidered, Rococo-esque jackets paired with luxe gym shorts. A Stranger Things T-shirt even made its way down the runway, capping a season surprisingly strong in sci-fi and horror references, starting with Raf Simons's show for Calvin Klein. Now the fashion world will spend the next few months unpacking what it is they saw until it’s time to do it all over again, in February.

Tom Petty’s Legacy

Backing Down

Rock legend Tom Petty passed away Monday after being found unconscious and in the midst of cardiac arrest. He leaves behind a vast legacy. Slate lauded him as one of the best writers of opening lines in rock music. Vanity Fair remembered his interesting side career in acting, including his voice role as Lucky on King of the Hill. Vulture examined why his death felt so intensely personal for so many (you probably texted your dad about it, didn't you?). Several stars paid tribute on social media, and a few even did so musically, including Peter Buck of R.E.M. and Coldplay’s viral cover of “Free Fallin.”

Sex and the City Drama

SATC 3

Apparently the Sex and the City 3 drama went deeper than we originally thought. Sarah Jessica Parker says that a script had already been written, and, according to one report, filming was set to begin soon. Supposedly. What everyone agrees on is that Kim Cattrall was the holdout, but she says no one should be surprised. In a new interview, she says she quickly and firmly said no to the project every time it was brought up over the past year—as is her right. But she said she just wants to move on and is not particularly close with her fellow cast mates anymore, especially Parker. “I really think she could have been nicer,” Cattrall said. “I don't know what her issue is. I never have.” We may never get a Sex and the City 3, but the basic cable, unauthorized, behind-the-scenes TV movie is going to be fire. For the record, Cattrall also didn’t do any of the Police Academy sequels.
