In: Cara, Kristen and Katy’s Blonde Buzzcuts | Out: Fashion Feuds

Collaborations and bleach blonde buzzcuts are definitely in. Social media rudeness is not.

Labels Getting Along

Fashion Feuds

Sure, fashion history is littered with feuds and rivalries, but it can be beneficial for everyone when labels get along. Take Vetements and Tommy Hilfiger, for example. The young and edgy Zurich-by-way-of-Paris Vetements doesn't have that much in common with the all-American mass retail Hilfiger empire, but they two brands are just the latest to enter the temporary marriage of collaboration. They'll produce a capsule collection of unisex casual-wear later this year heavy with both brands' logo. The catch? Prices will be more Paris boutique than your local department store. Hoodies will go for $1,100. Still, it's preferable to fashion infighting. Fresh off sparring with Trump critics and Miley Cyrus online, Stefano Gabbana is now taking aim at a fellow designer. When Japanese Vogue editor-at-large Anna Dello Russo posted an image from Maria Grazia Chiuri’s latest couture collection for Dior, Gabbana commented underneath "she’s gotten it all wrong as usual" in his native Italian. Of course, the same could be said of Gabbana’s adversarial social media habits as well.

Bleach Blonde Buzzcuts

Long, Brunette Locks

If fashion has a favorite haircut at the moment it's definitely bleach blonde and somewhere in length between a true pixie cut and a full on military-grade buzzcut. Need proof? What better than the front row at a Chanel haute couture show? Cara Delevingne, Katy Perry and Kristen Stewart all showed up in Paris with variations of the cut. Cameras caught Delevingne and Perry at what seemed like the exact moment they realized they had the same 'do. Perry and Stewart later gamely posed together for photos as well. Delevingne and Stewart did not, because, well...have you heard St. Vincent's latest single "New York?" So good! Anyway, the bleach blonde buzzcuts were out in force. Maybe there's something deeper to it? Something about all the ideas of gender and resistance in the air. Maybe it's a coincidence (Delevingne and Stewart had to chop their hair for roles). Maybe fashion, ever nostalgic, is just looking thinking fondly back to the hair of Agyness Deyn, who rocked the cut during her stint as an It model less than a decade ago.

The Baby Driver

Anthony Bourdain

Have you heard about the Baby Driver? Everyone loves the Baby Driver! Can't get enough of that Baby Driver, and after over achieving at last weekend's box office with over $20 million and reaching a total take of $40 million, it might be one of the summer's biggest non-franchise films this side of Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk. Which, of course, means Hollywood will now try to make it a franchise. Director Edgar Wright says he's already been asked by Sony to produce a sequel, which should be good news for everyone who loves the Baby Driver, everyone except celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain. He does not love the Baby Driver. "F--- BABY DRIVER!" He wrote in Twitter. This led to director Ava DuVernay to take time out of her busy schedule to defend the Baby Driver. "You don't have to like it. But have some respect for the artists who made it. You're better than this. Critique doesn't have to be cruel," she wrote back. Stefano Gabbana, take note.
