In this case it was Ikea’s big blue Frakta bag. You know the one that Balenciaga recently paid tribute to with a giant $2,000-plus bag of their own and then Colette also recently remixed. He produced his own version, in part, to announce that he’ll be collaborating with the retailer on a whole new line of products aimed at trendy Millennials. What better man for the job than Kanye West’s former creative director after all? What will he make though? Well, not just another chair. That’s for certain. “Ikea provides a landscape — fertile soil for new ideas and concepts,” Abloh said his appearance at Ikea’s Democratic Design Days. “My duty then, is to provide something provocative. Given how tremendous this opportunity is, I’m not content to make another chair.” | | Apple Music as the New Netflix | | |  | | It once seemed weird to watch television from a website that originated to sell us books, but Amazon is out there racking up Emmys and accolades and no one bats an eye anymore. Even as Amazon Prime competes with Netflix, Hulu, Crackle and other erstwhile services, Apple still thinks there’s room for some more competition. The mega-company is quietly turning its Apple Music streaming service into a TV player as well (which makes sense, they already stream exclusive music videos). That effort kicks off this week with their first show Planet of the Apps. It’s a Shark Tank-style reality show for app developers, but apparently it’s not very good. Business Insider calls it “unintentionally comical train wreck.” Yikes! This might not be the program that gets people to sign up in masses, but luckily Apple has a show based on James Corden’s popular Carpool Karaoke lined up for later in the year. Eventually the service may even have Emmy aspirations of their own. The longterm plan is to release scripted dramas as well, they just take longer to line up and produce than reality shows. | | |  | | | Kit Harington’s Wild Week | | Ed Sheeran’s Bathroom Etiquette | Your Westeros boyfriend Kit Harrington is making the media rounds in anticipation of the upcoming season of Game of Thrones, and it’s all very entertaining. Last night on James Corden’s The Late Late Show, he revealed that he once met Taylor Swift-pal and fellow Englishman Ed Sheeran in, of all places, a men’s urinal. Apparently it was Sheeran who took the awkward opportunity to introduce himself first and now the pair are old pals. Though, the hardest question from his appearance didn’t come from the affable Corden but rather from fellow guest Nicole Kidman (who seems to be having quite a fun time forcing awkward moments on talk shows lately). When the talk turned to the fact that Harington just moved in with Rose Leslie, Kidman asked him point blank, “So are you going to get married or…?” which caught Harington off guard. “I’m being put on the spot by Nicole Kidman,” Harington replied. If only we were all so lucky. Though, maybe all these media appearances and tough questions are tiring Harington out.
