Kristen Stewart’s Media Tour

Kristen Stewart (as in Out and Proud)

Ahead of the release of her latest film, Personal Shopper, Kristen Stewart is all over the place. She’s giving interviews about her deep thoughts on text messaging and death (apt since the artsy French film is, partially, about those two subjects), shaving her head and dyeing her hair blonde, and explaining her Saturday Night Live F-bomb. She’s also, perhaps most importantly, proud to finally talk publicly about her sexuality after years of deflection. She says she was hesitant to open up at first because the public and media had been so oddly infatuated with her relationship with Robert Pattinson (even now-President Trump chimed in...multiple times), and was wary of sharing anything. Then she thought, “Considering I had so many eyes on me, I suddenly realized [my private life] affects a greater number of people than just me,” she told The Sunday Times. “It was an opportunity to surrender a bit of what was mine, to make even one other person feel good about themselves.”

Museums in Paris

Fashion Labels That Aren’t Funding Museums

Is there ever such a thing as too much culture when it comes to Paris? Apparently not. Hot on the heels of the announcement that Chanel was donating millions to help turn the city’s fashion museum into a full-time institution, Bernard Arnault, the chief executive of luxury conglomerate LVMH, is revamping a museum of his own. He’s revamping the building that used to hold the Museum of Arts and Popular Traditions and turning it into La Maison LVMH/Arts. It will be just a short distance from Paris’ other Arnault-funded art museum, the Fondation Louis Vuitton. Architect Frank Gehry is attached to oversee the estimated $166 million renovations. He’ll have some time too. The museum is scheduled to open in 2022. So, if you’ve ever wondered where all that money made by selling luxury handbags and fancy perfumes actually goes, well, a notable chunk of it ends up funding art museums.

Female Comedies

Male Strippers

Ever since the success of Bridesmaids, Hollywood has made sure to schedule at least one big female-fronted comedy every summer. This year the highlight seems set to be Rough Night. The cast is fronted by Scarlett Johansson and filled out by the (suddenly ubiquitous) Zoë Kravitz and comedy all-stars Kate McKinnon of SNL, Ilana Glazer of Broad City and Jillian Bell of Comedy Central’s Idiotsitter. Unlike Bridesmaids however, this film promises to be a “hard R.” Its setting is a bachlorette party, which lends itself to lots of jokes about hooking up, having fun, and, naturally, lots of cocaine. This all seems fine and good until a male stripper ends up dead. The other trait that sets it apart from a lot of recent big female comedies? This one is actually directed by a woman, Lucia Aniello, who will be making her feature film debut. Watch the trailer here
